The heart of the hostel will be our lodge kitchen. It's a great open space which guests often describe as a large and clean space to meet other travellers. It is a well set up and welcoming area where there is plenty of space to cook, eat your meal or chat with other guests. You can dine at our huge Kauri table or enjoy the fresh air outside at the back courtyard.
The kitchen is equipped with two large commercial stoves, each with six gas hobs. You will find all the utensils you could need along with multiple microwaves, fridges, freezers and toasters. There is enough space for you to store your dry food and we always make sure we keep our herbs and spices rack well stocked up. For fresh herbs, you can help yourself in our garden!
Enjoy a good old Kiwi 'barbie' in summer! We have an outdoor BBQ for guests to use free of charge.

The Naked Bus and Intercity bus stop right outside the hostel! We are the main drop off and pick up point in Mount Maunganui.
The local bus, which is easily caught from downtown Tauranga, also stops outside the hostel. Catch the No. 1 or No. 2 bus to visit our backpackers in the Mount from Tauranga information centre.

Next to our large kitchen, we have an extra room for those who would like to chill out on the sofa, read a book, use the Ping pong table or the many board games to play on those wet days. We also have a free book exchange with a large variety of books in many different languages. We also have a Spacies machine which kiwi kids in the 1970’s will remember! There is a dart board available outside.
On the first floor we have a spacious guest lounge. It is a great place to chill and relax on the couch after a big day exploring the area! Feel free to watch a movie, you can choose out of thousands DVD's for free!

Environmental awareness, Recycling/Sustainability
We live in a very beautiful country and we would like to keep it that way. We are very proud of our recycling system. We are limiting our footprint on this earth and therefore we ask our guests to do their part by conserving water and power and recycle as much waste as possible. We also have a Red Cross donation box in reception where guests can donate good quality unwanted items.
