Our Story

Sarah & Matt are Mount locals who met when they were backpacking around Europe in 2000. They came home after all their adventures and purchased Pacific Coast Lodge and Backpackers in 2012. Over the years they have made many improvements and have grown the business from humble beginnings to an award-winning hostel. They still love to travel and continue to be inspired by their own experiences both home and overseas, driving Pacific Coast Lodge and Backpackers to be the best accommodation experience in New Zealand for travellers and adventurous souls.
